Created in 2008, FedImpact Workshops are in-person educational training sessions uniquely designed for federal employees. ProFeds’ Founder, Chris Kowalik, dedicated her attention to providing federal employees with the knowledge and guidance they need to make informed decisions about their retirement benefits.
While the FedImpact Workshop is the flagship training program, the FedImpact Podcast and FedImpact Webinar series also offer federal employees the opportunity to learn no matter where they are located worldwide.

Meet The Founder
Chris Kowalik, Founder
Chris Kowalik knows a thing or two about decoding complex languages.
As a former active duty Marine who served as an Arabic Linguist and Signals Intelligence Analyst, she’s spent her career translating complex language into messages that are easy to understand. She’s applied that skillset to translating complex government benefits and financial jargon into usable intel for over two decades.
Chris Kowalik is a nationally recognized federal employee retirement benefits expert and the founder of ProFeds, a training program for financial professionals working with federal employees.
Chris and her husband have three children and reside in the Kansas City area.

Steve Selman
Workshop Trainer
Steve Selman, MBA, has dedicated his life to serving his country. He is a highly sought-after speaker and trainer and has shared his insights and expertise with audiences across the country.
Lieutenant Colonel Selman is an retired U.S. Army Reserve officer with over three decades of military service, including multiple combat tours in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Iraq.
Steve’s years as a financial advisor in Frankfurt, Germany enabled him to serve the unique planning needs of the military and employee families. This experience gave him a deep understanding of the financial challenges facing those who serve our country.
Steve and his wife have six children and reside in Tampa, FL.
Ted Janusz
Workshop Trainer
Ted Janusz, MBA, is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and Certified Virtual Presenter (CVP) delivering training programs to employee audiences for over 20 years.
Throughout his extensive career, Ted has delighted audiences for over 9,000 hours in and across the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. He is also a runner who has covered over 40,000 miles, that’s nearly twice around the earth.
Ted brought his speaking experience to ProFeds in 2020, and has since presented hundreds of retirement workshops to federal employees. His works have been featured on BusinessWeek.com and MSNBC.com, and he has been invited to appear on the FOX News Channel.
Ted, his four adult children, and nine grandchildren (who are his pride and joy) live in Columbus, OH.
Joey Ford
Workshop Trainer
Joey Ford is passionate about assisting people in every aspect of their lives.
After serving as a pastor and counselor for over 25 years, he entered the financial services industry as an analyst, insurance agent, and retirement trainer.
Over the last decade, he’s dedicated his career to understanding the nuances of the federal benefits system. Focusing solely on retirement training for the past six years, he has helped countless federal employees understand their benefits and navigate their decisions into retirement.
Joey and his wife reside on a farm in Georgia and have five children and three beautiful grandchildren. In his free time, Joey enjoys exploring the great outdoors, traveling with his wife, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Richard Hartley
Workshop Trainer
Richard Hartley is a retired U.S. Coast Guard Commander, having served over 20 years. Richard began his career at the USCG Academy where he earned a commission and a degree in Marine Science. He earned a master’s in policy and public administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
His tours of duty include USCG liaison officer to the Navy Warfare Development Command where he interfaced with multiple Naval commands worldwide in the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures. He also served as Chief of Response for Coast Guard Sector Miami.
After retiring, he served as the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard federal civilian employee account manager of benefits for FedPoint, the administrator of the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) and Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).
Richard and his wife have three daughters and live in Portsmouth, NH.
